Inextricably Linked

Leadership starts first and foremost with vision. You have to know what you want and where you are going. Then you have to have people buy your vision. No followers, no leadership.

There are those who think they can run a business or survive in an increasingly competitive marketplace with a street map trying to get to a destination 3,000 miles away. Invariably, their decision making is based on cost rather than opportunity. They are not leading. They are managing to circumstances. This may work in an established business where playing defense would protect a revenue stream, however, as change continues to be the dominant force in every market segment, such a strategy will become impotent.

Vision and success are linked. Execution with your vision is the key to locking in the success. It’s hard to find people with vision and execution. Today, winning requires you to be a dreamer that gets things done. Miss either one of those ingredients and at best, you become just a side note.

Technology and toys don’t create success. Leadership with clear vision is what changes the world. It always has.
