Attitude Via Rework

The new book, Rework, is a dangerous book. It may cause more people to change the world they did not realize was easier to change today. There is an approach via our new ecosystem of tools and talent to get work done. Sadly, many are still trapped in old economy mindsets.  Consider this stirring appeal by Jason Fried:

“What you do is your legacy.  Don’t sit around and wait for someone to make the change you want to see.  And don’t think it takes a huge team to make that difference either.”

He is exactly right.  It is easier to get things done today for the person with know-how and leadership in their veins.  We apply the principles from Rework in how we sell, lead and execute.  If people could see under the hood, they would be astounded at the creativity and the enabling systems we use to get things done to change the world.

We have to live it.  It is what we lead with and affect the results of our business clients.  Our passion drives the change required to win in our clients’ businesses, as vast and varied as they are.

Assume one thing.  Your business can be run to make more money, bring more value and affect more lives.  The blind spot is that there is a pattern by which you and your business have been doing things.  How decisions are made, what systems are used, and comfortable outdated modes of execution can inhibit growth.

Fried paints a picture of what today’s efficient business models look like.  It takes looking at the possibilities, getting the right talent to execute and getting rid of the drag which costs money, productivity and opportunity.  Grab the book.  It is a quick read that may dare to change the world, especially your own.
