Does It Really Ever JUST Work?

Unreasonable expectations are common for those who are afraid of failure.  We think that just because we spent money on marketing, that money should be flowing in.  Or buying a new system becomes the answer to all of our problems.  Or joining a gym will help us lose weight.

From the outside, such expectations are laughable.  However, everyone is looking for the magic switch that makes your problems go away, your waist line trimmer, your marriage perfect and your business wildly successful.  It’s why sensationalism in marketing is so prevalent.  There’s an audience chomping at the bit for the hope of a shortcut.

What Happens When Failure Happens?

The reality is that the success stories you see have a trail of failures.  There was a lot of hard, hard work.  There was a price.  There were hours, likely thousands of them.  There was pain, toil, frustration and disappointment.  That’s what puts them ahead of you.  They paid an unseen price.

The products you hold in your hand and enjoy, the restaurants you frequent and the every day things you consume are a result of someone’s guts, dreams and hard work.  You only see the result, not the process.  The process is filled with failure.

So, the disconnect happens when you try something yourself.  You may have an illusion in your head that things just work.  It’s understandable.  If you only see the show, the end result and the success stories without ever looking or experiencing what is behind the curtain then your expectations will be off center.

It never just works.  Talent, know-how, guts, determination and luck all play a part.  If you dare to grow yourself or your business, just remember that failure is part of the process.  Keep pushing on the idea.  Be a partner rather than a shrew with your vendors who are helping you to succeed.  Expect that things never just really work.  That would be heaven.  Last time I checked, we live on the other side of that reality.  When it’s not working, it’s because you need to work.  Get to it.  The world is waiting for your genius.

What are some things you wish just worked?  Why don’t they?  Feel free to comment below.
