Owners and Cash Flow

Cash flow pulse app

If you are a business owner, I wanted to share a powerful, pleasurable and simple app for you and your team to use to help you manage that all important metric – cash flow. Pulse designed a brilliant web application which augments your accounting systems. The latter focuses on financials, while this is a pragmatic tool for decision making.

Can you invest in that new project? Should you hire that new person?

I like the way this tool allows for predictions as well as what has happened. When you enter in your information, you can get a great idea of the time and money factor over weeks and months.

Three Tips

You can set this tool up quickly and it is quite empowering. As an owner, here are a few tips to make it a strategic part of your leadership:

  1. Get your accountant or CFO on board. Do an initial setup and have them fill in the blanks. It’s a collaborative environment and you can make decisions faster this way with mutual buy-in.
  2. Play with scenarios. You can now make decisions by data rather than emotion or a time lag. Try out different scenarios. This will give you a good sensitivity analysis to where your cash positions could be.
  3. Force data decisions. In addition, ensure that your decision making revolves around quick analyses. It may be a new discipline, but it will pay off. The speed and ease to input and get information out allows you to have knowledge that may have been naggingly absent before.

I haven’t seen another tool like this out there, but from my work with owners and managers, it is quite critical and hits the mark.

Pulse represents thorough thinking about simplicity, usefulness and power.

Let me know what you think and how you are using it. Hope it helps you grow your business.
