The Next Great Idea Is What Matters

Come up with great ideas

I loathe politics and political players. It creates a lot of non-productive dialogue and focus on things that don’t matter.

When you hear someone complaining or withholding information, such roadblocks create noise that gets the focus of your business off target.

What matters is coming up with great ideas for your customers and driving profit along product lines. Change happens so quickly and the market can let you know if you have winners or losers in play with your ideas. Your job is to figure out if something is going to work and either improve it, discard it or invent something new.

This requires intense focus on what matters and the noise of blaming, concealing or commiserating only halts innovation.

The great thing is that you can put ideas into play much more conveniently and with ease today more than ever. It takes risk because you have to risk your ideas rather than criticize others or overanalyze what is not working.

So, two metrics to consider:

  1. How are you making your customers happy with your products?
  2. Are you testing your ideas to improve your products?

Everything else is noise.
