Since There Are No Guarantees

uncertainty and planning

I can totally understand that hunger and striving for ultimate security. It’s a scary feeling to feel like the ground under you is not stable. When you lie awake at night, you might wonder if you really are secure in your job or with your business. And it’s an accurate feeling.

But that anxious thinking does not have to paralyze you. It can be a source of motivation to align with reality. The reality is that no product persists forever. Hardly anyone gets a pension out of their career. And customers are whimsical and will find another option.

If you are looking for guarantees, then you are living in fantasy. It’s wasted energy and thought. It’s not reality.

You can’t control what others should do or will do.

But, you can fully engage and tilt favor and serendipity your way. You can increase probabilities for what you want. I think this is far more realistic. But it takes forward thinking.

Since there are no guarantees, your best strategy is to do the work of:

positioning to get noticed

… relating to the people that can say, “Yes,” often and frequently

… being valuable to the people that have been loyal and matter

… getting rid of bad apples in your life

… growing a tribe steadily that can help you and value your message

… preparing and refining how you provide service

… always being excellent

A lot of this work goes unnoticed until it’s time to be noticed. But if you skip the work, you lower your probabilities.

While there are no guarantees, it doesn’t mean you have to sit, sulk and suffer. No, you look ahead and prepare by doing the things that increase your probabilities for attraction, stickiness and success.

What can you be doing today to increase your probabilities? Are you still looking for guarantees?
