We are on our way into 2016, and I hope you are using the motivation of the season to make change. No one is going to do it for you. If you simply go through the motions, you won’t get much of a greater result this time next year in your business and life.
When you want to go after big things, ironically, the small things hold you back. It’s hard to think clearly when you have a cluttered mind. It’s hard to be ready for the next opportunity when you can’t get through or manage what’s on your plate today.
It’s why it is so important to purge and be relentless about it. Things that don’t matter can easily make their way into your mind space whether material or obligatory.
Consider what David Allen recently shared in a communication:
Want to trust your day-to-day, moment-to-moment decisions more? Get rid of any email backlog that is taking up real estate in your inbox.
You will have to do all this anyway, sometime. Right now don’t worry about the new. It’s coming toward you at lightning speed, no matter what. Just get the decks clear so you’re really ready to rock ‘n’ roll.

There are things that may used to mean something that don’t anymore. Why keep it around?
Some relationships or commitments you made in the past don’t make sense anymore. It’s time to purge.
When you do that, you give yourself the gift of freedom and space for the new.
