One of the most impactful reads I have had in the last few months is Greg McKeown’s Essentialism. It is both timely and relevant for the majority of modern people.
We live in a day and age where we have too much, not too little.
Too many choices of opportunities
Garages that are filled to the brim
Limitless storage both virtual and physical
Overwhelming amounts of daily information coming at us
So many options for activities to show up to
Massive amounts of work and debt
Along the way, many people are just trying to survive the day, much less live purposefully around what matters.
Many of the things you are doing or holding onto do not matter. It’s simply true. And if you filled your life, time and attention with what is essential, you would make much more of an impact without the cost of burnout and stress.
I have shared this concept for many years with clients and friends. I think the book will not only get you thinking but help you emotionally buy into a simpler, more powerful approach to what you are going after.
You can have a simpler business. You can have greater results from your work. You can be much happier with less stress.
But just as your life came to be by your own design and choices, so too such a life awaits by your intentionality, focus and effort.
Do take a read and let me know what you think. It could be the most impactful book of the year for you.
