I just got out of a team meeting where our development team’s last quarter of hard work, under the surface, got to be displayed and communicated. The whole team was able to see what was happening in the background and the many hours of thinking, hard work and testing that produced new features ready for launch.
It’s funny how consumerism works. We are all impressed with car body styling without knowing if the power system is world class. We have a simple interface with software we interact with little knowing all the scripts being executed under the hood. We buy a product and don’t realize the operational pieces to support delivery to our house.
We see the tip of the iceberg, and under the service is all the mess that supports the delivery of value to the customer.
In our everyday work, remember that the push gets the win. Every interaction, point of clarity, system implementation, design thinking and sales messaging refinement is part of building that unseen success.
That’s why we have to care. We have to care about the success. We have to care about the business and how we bring things together and make them work.
