Don’t Fall Behind

In these times of uncertainty, we can feel anxious and unsettled. There are tectonic shifts happening in the work world.

Remote work has caused real estate prices to drop (One shocking headline even shared a deal of a 98% decrease in a commercial real estate sale in St. Louis).

AI is relentlessly pushing on white collar workers and their once deemed value.

Inflation and global crises are creating volatility in our purchasing and investments.

We don’t have control of a lot of these macro forces causing stress. But, we can always show up. We can always be kind. We can always be professional.

Our relationships, reputation and value are in our control.

I have had some hard months, but I try to show up for the people I do business with and everyone I meet. I hold onto that mantra, that “This too shall pass.”

I stick with my disciplines to be healthy. I focus on bringing value. I try to love my neighbor as myself. And, this is because I am responsible for how I act, regardless of how I feel.

There are so many opportunities that naturally arise if you have staying power. Sometimes, events have to unfold or converge to reveal those conversations, meetings or serendipitous encounters. Showing up as a pro with consistency allows you to be available and welcomed to those events.

Survive and you greatly increase the opportunity to participate in the next unveiling of opportunities.

Tips and Resources

  • Commit to Lifelong Learning. With innovation and technology, develop lifelong learning as a process. Every week have a book going that helps you learn a new skill. Also, schedule time with people that you can learn from.

  • Change your environment. Your context matters. Consider changing your home, office, or lifestyle. “Your environment has to support your goals.” – Gary Keller

  • Start writing. Writing is thinking. Thinking leads to more clear action. How about starting a simple monthly newsletter on Convertkit? The discipline helps you stay on top of ideas and information while sharing with your friends and customers.

  • Get Career Coaching. My business partner, Erin, has helped many people with their next gig. Book a time with her and find a massive ROI either in a new job, connections or career decision.

  • Buy a domain. This helps you start an idea for very cheap. Psychologically, you are invested and can work on developing an idea for a website, product and getting initial customers. I recently bought virtualteamworkshops.com/ and we built a product around this at TruPotential Group for clients asking for Virtual Team Workshops. I use Hover which is clean and easy to manage domains.

  • Let’s identify and start your strategy. I have coached many new and existing entrepreneurs. It starts with thinking clearly. Book below:

Take Action

The world is not going to slow down for you. In fact, it is speeding up at a relentless pace.

While it’s tempting to maintain the status quo, it’s dangerous. Noone feels sorry for you when you relied on obsolete and decaying things that worked. Now they don’t.

One of my favorite verses is: Proverbs 22:3

A wise man sees trouble far off and avoids it. The simple pass on and are punished.

Are you wise? Take action. A few of the ideas above can set you up for the new, relevant and profitable opportunities supplanting what you see fading away today.
