Love Your Problems

My kids love reading the Life of Fred math book series as part of their schooling. Fred is a great character whose naivete helps us look at ourselves a bit.

I liked this statement that helps kids see some context in the hard work of getting their brains to enjoy problems and problem solving:

Much of life consists of solving problems. Fred has the problem of getting a heavy sleeping bag down to the first floor. Mothers of young children have problems. Owners of pizza stores have problems. Mothers of teenage children have problems.

Be very happy if the career you choose has lots of problems to solve! That will mean that you have a job that matters.

Would you want a job that consisted of just drawing small circles on a piece of paper all day long?

Yes, you have problems. But they make you valuable. Love them or find new problems.
